Since July 2008 I have been working for 24.com. I was hired on a permanent basis to do research & development on algorithms for new search products, but have also been maintaining their production search engine (on a temporary basis).
Also in July I submitted my M.Sc. dissertation at the University of Cape Town, entitled Rapid statistical classification on the Medline database of biomedical literature. The fruit of the research is a web service for using machine learning to identify relevant biomedical literature, trained from a set of examples, for use in the curation of biomedical databases. See the MScanner website, and the PDF of my Masters dissertation.
Previous degrees from included B.Sc. Hons first class in Applied Mathematics and B.Sc. first class with distinctions in Computer Science, Physics and Applied Mathematics.
